Fishing ain't what it used to be! If you're looking for a sure thing (almost) in the fishing world, check out the Humminbird Fishfinder 585c. I've used this fish finder for a couple of months now, and it's pretty cool and easy to use. Because I normally fish in the daytime, I'm happy that you can easily see the screen. I've only tested it at night a couple of times, but it's easy to see then, too.
There's a couple of neat bonuses that the fishfinder 585c gives you, like depth sounding, and contour mapping of the lake or ocean bottom. I usually turn it on as soon as I leave the dock - I was able to get rid of my old depth sounder because the 585c fishfinder has one included, as well as a GPS navigation system too! The pictures of the fish are shown on the screen with the depth in feet next to the fish icon, so you see a bunch of different computer fish moving back and forth, each with a number over them. Pretty cool.
I went with the external antenna that I bought with the Humminbird Fishfinder because the rep told me that the internal one doesn't have good reception if it's blocked by anything. If you are looking to buy a good, solid, easy to read, easy to use, all-in-one fish finder device, I think buying the Humminbird Fishfinder 585c is the way to go. I looked at buying the Humminbird Fishfinder 535, the fishfinder 595c, and the 343c fishfinder as well, but I wanted a color screen, a combo gps and depth sounder, etc.
